At Yaxham Primary School children are taught to think like a scientist. They are encouraged to enquire and ask scientific questions, as well as to plan, carry out and evaluate experiments. Children have opportunities to use a range of scientific equipment for investigations such as measuring tools, magnifying glasses or microscopes.
In EYFS children begin to explore, observe and find out, developing an understanding of the world around them through child- initiated as well as adult-led activities. In KS1 and KS2 Science is taught through topics. Where possible educational visits are used to enhance the curriculum and give children hands on experiences. We ensure we give children every opportunity to work scientifically using the methods processes and skills identified within the National Curriculum Programme of Study.
