Computing

Think like a computer scientist!

At Yaxham CE VA Primary School we recognise the increased importance of the science of computing, teaching our children to understand how computers works in this highly digital age.

The aims of the computing curriculum are that children can understand and apply the fundamental principles and concepts of computer science, including abstraction, logic, algorithms and data representation; analyse problems in computational terms, and have repeated practical experience of writing computer programs in order to solve such problems; evaluate and apply information technology, including new or unfamiliar technologies, analytically to solve problem; are responsible, competent, confident and creative users of information and communication technology.

A big part of our computing curriculum is ensuring that our pupils know how to keep themselves safe in a digital age.

The skills embedded across the curriculum in all subjects when using ICT are that children use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly both at school and at home; recognise acceptable/unacceptable behaviour and know a range of ways to report concerns about content and contact (Esafety); use search technologies effectively, appreciate how results are selected and ranked, and be discerning in evaluating digital content.

Our talented Badgers incorporated their math and computing skills to create a bar graph on the computer.
